A week ago, an employee contracted as a recovery officer at Mwananchi Credit Limited reached out to this blog, rasing claims of assault against the company’s CEO, Mr. Dennis Mombo.

The staffer identified as Daniel Kimuyu held that on Monday 1st August 2022, his boss, Mr. Mombo, unleashed violence upon him for allegedly involving brokers during a recent auction exercise without his supposed permission.

During the dramatic event that began as a minor altercation, Mr. Mombo summoned the building’s security guards, who kept watch and ensured the victim could not escape the room.

“He rose from his desk, called in a bodyguard, and immediately started punching me while positioning himself at the door such that I can’t escape,” Kimuyu noted in his narration, which can be fully accessed here.

He was later picked up by two DCI officers who unlawfully detained him at the Central Police station under orders from the CEO.

They released him hours later but turned down a request to write his own statement concerning the incident; a clear obstruction of justice.

He settled for an OB Number and chose to seek justice at a different department: the Nairobi DCIO officer.

At first, the agency received him well, heard his case, and finally allowed him to write a statement describing the assault he suffered under the hands of Mr. Mombo.

Armed with a P3 form, he went to seek medical treatment at the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.

But when he returned the following day to file a doctor’s report, his case had been transferred from the DCIO’s office to the DCI at Parliament Police Station.

It was here that he wrote a second statement, once again describing his painful ordeal at Mwananchi Credit.

“At around 4:30 PM, I was told the CEO had ordered my release.

I was released, but felt mishandled and denied justice.

I went and reported downstairs and was given OB.

On 2nd August 2022, I walked directly into DCIO officer Mr. Mworia’s office, who complained that he was not aware of my case and all that had happened.

He called a different officer and directed her to have me record my statement and be issued with P3.

This was done, and I proceeded to Mama Lucy Hospital, where I was treated.

On 3rd August 2022, I went back to submit my P3 report.

I was told my case had been transferred to DCI Parliament to avoid a conflict of interest between the CEO and officers he usually uses from Central Police Station.

I proceeded to DCI Parliament where I was told to write the report again under investigation by officer Daniel Koipiri,” the source narrated.

By this point, Mr. Kimuyu was hopeful for justice.

But as per his latest submission to cnyakundi.com, things have not been as smooth as expected.

The victim now alleges that his aggressor, Mr. Mombo, has compromised law enforcement officers at DCI Parliament, into twisting facts of the case to his favor.

They have reportedly changed the incident from “assault” to a much weaker charge of “affray“.

“Hi Nyakundi,

I have received report findings from the DCI Parliament investigating officer and he seemed corrupted and has twisted the case to be “affray” rather than assault.

The report now rests at the DCI office and will get an update tomorrow.

Regards, DANIEL KIMUYU,” says the source.
